LABORATORY & INSTRUMENTATION
Pharmaceutical Analysis Lab – I
This lab is equipped with glassware for pharmaceutical analysis like burette, pipette, volumetric flasks, measuring cylinders etc. The lab is associated with a chemical balance for the preparation of volumetric reagents. This laboratory helps students familiarize with basic and modern methods of analysis. To elaborate pharmacopeia methods used for the analysis and quality control of pharmaceuticals are carried out in this lab. At the undergraduate level, the lab is involved in imparting theoretical as well as practical knowledge of the subject that a student needs to acquire the current scenario of quality control and quality assurance of pharmaceutical substances as per the need of the pharmaceutical industry and regulatory requirements.
Pharmaceutical Analysis Lab – II
The Pharmaceutical Analysis Lab II deals with analyzing the quantity and quality of drugs and their contaminants, elucidating their structure, food and dye analysis, and pharmaceutical validation. As a way of providing the students with the most enriching practical hands-on training, the laboratory has been equipped with state-of-the art instruments and research facilities, which allow the students to stay engaged throughout their course. Upon pursuing pharmaceutical analysis, students will learn to focus on the methods to identify and quantify potential new drug candidates, determine purity, identify by-products and degradation products in compatibility and stability studies, and determine the drug substance’s fate in the organism. The program is taken under the instruction of highly skilled and trained faculties and experts, who go on to provide the students with the most enriching industrial exposure.
Pharmaceutical Analysis Lab – III and V
The Pharmaceutical analysis lab III and V is housed with sophisticated analytical instruments in separate air-conditioned rooms. Proper maintenance and utilization of the analytical instruments are carried out under the supervision of well-trained faculty members. The emphasis is laid on imparting hands-on experience to each and every student in handling all the analytical instruments. The department has separate labs for postgraduate and undergraduate students, which are well furnished and designed to permit students ample working space.
Sophisticated Instruments
- Agilent HPLC System with PDA Detector
- Camag HPTLC System with win CATS software
- Lab India UV-Vis Spectrophotometer
Pharmaceutical Analysis Lab – IV
The Pharmaceutical Analysis Lab – III deals with the qualitative and quantitative analysis of drugs and pharmaceuticals. Pharmaceutical analysis includes a series of processes for the identification, determination, quantification, and purification of substances, the separation of the components, and the determination of the structures of chemical compounds. It supports pharmaceutical product development from early development to manufacture. The principal focus of the department is the development and application of analytical methods and techniques relevant to the pharmaceutical sciences. The pharmaceutical analysis laboratory is closely associated with other departments of the institution. The department is well equipped with modern analytical instruments and other facilities and is involved in various research activities, like the development and validation of novel green analytical methods by using HPLC and UV Visible spectrophotometer.
RESEARCH PROJECTS
All students are required to complete the project as per the curriculum. Every year, in the PG and Ph.D. programs, a minimum of 5 students learn green analytical tools and perform the projects. Our department, with more than 15 publications, represents the SDG’s
Publications on SDGs
- Sustainable Chemistry and Pharmacy (IF 5)
- Green Chemistry Letters and Review (IF 6.6)
- Green Process and Synthesis (IF 4)
- Journal of Liquid Chromatography and Related Technologies (IF 1.9)
